This is a little page about some modifications i made to my fantastic bike. I hope it will help other ST4 users to make there bike that bit better. First i installed a ligther, to be able to plug a lamp an air pressure compresor a charger for the movil phone....etc, i putted a cable from the batery to the plug, passing first thourgh a fuse( i put 10 A fuse) and a swith. It cost me arounb 8$ in a car replace shop. Then i installed a voltimeter to know the Tension of the battery any time i want, i got the tension of the battery from the lighter and also put a red interruptor(ON/OFF). Bought the voltimeter in a electronic shop it cost me around 40$, i wraped it around so the rain couldn´t enter. If you want to see a photo of this take a look here, the swith of the lighter is difficult to see( the photo quality is not very fine), is black and is at the right of the lighter. After that, i installed a termometer. This usefull to see the ambient temperature and also the crankcase temperature, i`m not very proud of this one because the termometer is too small and i should have locate it higher(it´s difficult to see it ones you are at cockpit), this was quiet easy to locate, just drill the hole and place it in, see a photo here. Also, i install the Up/Down regulation of the beam, this is the one i'm most proud of , works fine, and when ever i ride with some one else or i put the baggs on, i just have to rotate the round knob. the idea was easy, the Ducati St4 has easy adjustment, it has a screw on the left side, the problem is that is a little hide and bothersome to move it. So what i did was: 1º- I bought the round knob from a Honda ST1100(pan european) and the things to adjust it(if you want to know exactly which pieces are, e-mail me and i`ll tell you. 2º The main problem was to traslate the movement from the screw to the knob i solve it with an old broken cable-revolution(rpm-cable), this ones have the necesary strength and also can be twist a lot. The adjustment of the cable was the hard part. Adjusting it to the knob was easy, i made a hole in knob and then put little screw to hold the cable. But adjusting it to the screw of the beam was hard, i had to weld it, what i did was weld a prisioner at the screw, after that it was easy to "trap" the cable. It's very important to weld the prisioner right at the center of the screw, if not, the cable will probably brake. See some photos here and here |
